Technical Requirements

In order to ensure that you have the best possible learning experience, please make ensure that your computer meets the following minimum requirements. 


NB: Certain Courses may require additional programs. Details on how to use those programs will be provided on the Course.

Browser

  • An up-to-date version of Chrome and Firefox is highly recommended.
  • At this time, mobile compatibility/browsers are not fully supported.

Internet Connectivity

  • A DSL (cable-wired) connection
  • Download: 2+ Mbps recommended; minimum 1 Mbps.
  • Upload: 0.5 Mbps.

Operating System

  • PC: Windows XP or higher with latest updates installed.
  • Mac: OS X 10.6 or higher with latest updates installed.
  • Linux: Any recent distribution that has the supported browsers installed.

Video Content

  • Adobe Flash Player. For details on how to download and install Adobe Flash Player, please click here.
  • For YouTube videos, you can find YouTube’s system requirements here.
  • If external contact is blocked on your network, please contact your IT support or internet provider, as Getsmarter currently source and hosts video content from the  following websites:- 
    • YouTube
    • Vimeo
    • HapYak 
    • Interlude

Webcam & Microphone

Required for courses that make use of Adobe Connect, proctored exams, and Screencastify.

  • Webcam: 640×480 or higher resolution (For Screencastify).
  • Microphone: Please note, headphone microphones are required to be used for Adobe Connect.
