How to add an electronic signature into a PDF document

This assistance document details how you would go about creating your electronic signature for your plagiarism declaration form.


Requirements

Adobe Reader 11
OR
Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 11


How to create your electronic signature using Adobe Reader 11

Step 1: Download and open the Plagiarism Declaration document from the Online Campus.

NB: it is important you ensure your document opens in Adobe Reader and not your internet browser.

Step 2: Open the Plagiarism Declaration document in Adobe Reader by right clicking on the file and selecting the “Open with” option.

Step 3: Select “Fill & Sign” at the top left hand corner of the toolbar in the document.

Step 4: Select “Place signature” as shown below.

A pop up box will appear with a few options. You can either select to “Draw my signature” or “Use an image”.

Step 1: Download and open the Plagiarism Declaration document from the Online Campus.

Step 2: Open the Plagiarism Declaration document in Adobe Reader by right clicking on the file and selecting the “Open with” option.



NB: it is important you ensure your document opens in Adobe Reader and not your internet browser. 

Step 3: Scroll down to the bottom of the side panel to the right of the screen. Select the “Fill & Sign” option.

Step 4: Once you have selected “Fill & Sign”, you will find a toolbar at the top of the page with some options. Select the “Add text” option (Ab) and then click into the field you would like to populate.


Step 5: When you are ready to add your signature select the “Sign” option at the top of the page and click “Add Signature”.

Step 6: Select the “Draw” option and sign your signature on the blue line using your mouse.

Step 7: Once you are happy with your signature you will select “Apply”.


Your signature will then be placed on the “Signed” field on the form.

Draw my signature

Step 1: Select “Drawing my signature” from the pop-up box and then use your mouse to create your signature in the open space provided.


Step 2: Select “Accept” and drag your signature to the desired space on the plagiarism declaration form. 

Your signature will now be saved to Adobe Reader. You will be able to change your saved signature or clear it completely to add a new signature.


Use an Image

Step 1: Select “Use an Image” from the pop-up box and then browse for the saved image of your signature on your computer.


Step 2: Select “Accept” and drag your signature to the desired space on the plagiarism declaration form.
