How to troubleshoot microphone and audio issues

Setting up Audio and Microphone for Live Tutorials


Before you begin your Live Tutorial, run through the Audio Setup Wizard. To do this, select Meeting > Audio Setup Wizard. The wizard guides you through five steps to optimise your computer’s settings for the live tutorial.

 STEP 1: Testing Sound.

Click the “Play Sound” button and ensure that you are able to hear the audio playing before moving on to the next step.

 STEP 2: Choosing Microphone

Select your default microphone as Adobe Connect will choose for you.

 Step 3: Testing Microphone

Select “Allow” so that Adobe flash player can access your microphone for it to work.

 Once you have allowed the microphone access, select the “record” button to start testing your microphone.

 Ensure that audio is being recorded. This is represented by the blue recording bar moving as depicted below.

 Step 4: Testing Silence Level

Test background noise to ensure that when you are interacting in the Live Tutorial that all participants are able to hear you clearly.

Click “finish” to complete the Audio Setup.

 Trouble Shooting Audio/Microphone issues.


If you are still encountering issues after running the Audio Setup Wizard try these possible solutions:


I cannot hear any audio 


  1. Verify that your computer speakers are on and your computer’s volume is at an audible level.
  2. Clear your browser history by following these steps.

Microphone is not working and nobody can hear you

   1. Make sure that your microphone is set-up correctly by watching these videos:

 2. If you are using headphones, ensure they have a built in mic. We advise using cell phone earphones as they have built in Microphones for phone calls.

3. You may have elected to deny the Flash Player access to your computer’s microphone. To verify this, right-click anywhere in your meeting window and choose “Settings” to view your Flash Player settings. In the dialogue box, choose “Allow” and “Remember”.

 4. Ensure that you have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player Click here to download the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player.
